Multiple Lilies by Lisa Goesling
My goal is to tell nature’s stories. Fine lines form these delicate buds giving us no indication of what surprises await. Then suddenly we are greeted with a burst of energy of brightly colored petals, some upon closer inspection are filled with every color in the rainbow. These powerful images soon evolve into shriveled up silhouettes complete with their own mysteries. They twist and turn creating a beautiful ending to their compelling story.

This summers' temperatures must have been perfect to facilitate the display of lilies surrounding our home. I am in the process of creating 96 views (finished piece 84"x40"), everything from a lily in full bloom to the aftermath of shriveled up petals or 'tepals'. I've completed six so far adding color to some and letting others stand alone as black and white studies. What surprised me is the range of colors, deep blues and purples, bright oranges and yellows…absolutely stunning!
It sure is nice when friends send flowers! I especially loved receiving these Lily's since I am crazy about the sender! Besides smelling great, it was fun capturing all of the shapes, textures, patterns, colors and of course-details. This image was used in a Dick Blick Materials Ad in Drawing Magazine.
